The Basics of Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease

Babies are susceptible to various illnesses, such as hand, foot and mouth disease, which is spread via contact from person-to-person.

Symptoms To Look For

As with most illnesses, we look for early indications. There are signs to look out for concerning this disease, including the following:

  • Fever
  • Runny nose
  • Reduced appetite
  • Tiny blisters
  • Rash

This disease begins like a common cold but quickly blossoms into more. There is a general contagious period of one week, although it can be longer. Treatment is limited to ibuprofen and acetaminophen to provide comfort and alleviate pain.
