Mono black decks dont really get to ramp very often, and one of their primary ways is sacrificing creatures but they need mana producing Altars, or a creature like Pitiless Plunderer in play to really pull it off

Especially if those cards dont have to abide by draw card rules, meaning you get around restrictions such as an opponents Narset, Parter of Veils or you avoid your opponent flashing in an Orcish Bowmasters, even though its still a good target for a Bowmasters ping

But I still enjoy him, so he remains in the arsenal
