Wonderful, Curious, Finely Carved Carved Partial Face on Wooden Print Block Flip Side, Dog on Reverse enlarging by grid with its shaggy hair givenA very curious little thing, and one of my very favorite recent finds. Seems to me the side with the hunting dog came first, made as a print block, but then someone decided to carve this face of a child (with marvelous collar!) into the wood on the reverse side not to be printed, but just as a carving. A quite a skillful carver they were, so beautifully done, with the face looking perhaps Native American, or Inuit, to me. A bit mysterious feeling, and
